Curse you, Sony-Ericsson! All I want* is an awesome, affordable mobile phone / music player combination with a 3.5mm headset jack. What do you deliver? Awesome, affordable mobile phone / music player combinations.. without a 3.5mm jack. Why, SE, why? You get the UI (mostly) right, the form, the look, the features have improved (you finally support A2DP / AVRC and stereo Bluetooth. Man, I couldn't believe the first Walkman phone didn't have that!), yet you insist on your crappy proprietary connector as an interface for the headphones. What the fuck, SE, what the fuck? Just let me plug my goddamned headphones into your phone without having to carry this second freaking cable around with me. That sticks out of the side of the phone, no less. Another brilliant move.
Nokia gets it right: 3.5 jack, on the top of the phone. Perfect. JUST FREAKING DO THAT ALREADY!
*Okay, I know I said I was hanging out for an N95, and before that I wanted a P900, and somewhere in there I wanted an 02 XD II or a P990, and I'll drool over the next multimedia smartphone that comes out, but let's be realistic: I'd probably never use most of the features, simply because I'm cheap. Sure, when I've got a real job I'll shell out the money for a data plan so I can check my 4 different email accounts on the go, use GPS and Instant Messaging on my phone, and blog the photos I take on the go, but right now I don't have that kind of money. But hey, when people say their dream car is a Porsche, Ferrari, or Rolls-Royce they aren't thinking about the running costs either.
