The Comeback Kid

It's good to be back ;-) On the dancefloor, on the soccer field, things are finally starting to progress again.

Where the dancing is a journey that is exposing more opportunites (read: flaws :-P) than it is leaving behind it, and soccer has reached the point where targeted practise is really required to boost the overall standard, both are capable of throwing up things to repay you for all the time you've invested in them.

According to my doctor, my wrist should be strong enough to withstand competitive sport this coming Tuesday. Being who I am - and due to the soccer season finishing this weekend - I went training last Thursday :-)
Now, either my teammates haven't been training all that hard, or my body has been exercising while I'm not paying attention, because I was able to keep up without problems. But the ball skills: oh, they were shocking.

I didn't go into the match today (Saturday) with particularly high expectations as a result. Personally, I was happy to get a game - though with the surfeit of players I needn't have worried about that too much! The gem that the game threw my way, however, was a goal within the first 5 minutes of play - off only my second touch! That brings me to two goals for the season (same as last year), and was about a good a comeback as any man could ask for :-D

The euphoria was dulled a little by the loss of a player at half-time, the relinquishing of a 3-1 lead to finish at 4-4, and the leaden knowledge that my best mate's mother was in hospital with liver cancer, but I'll take what I can get. From only my third game in almost four months, it was a validation of the place soccer holds in my heart.
